DFKY seeks to connect those who struggle with suicidal ideation to the people, passions, and experiences that can keep them alive. By sharing our feelings, we reduce the stigma around suicidal ideation and become less likely to act on our deadly ideas. This memoir includes the stories of the people, passions, and experiences that keep me alive as I struggle with anxiety, depression, and suicidal ideation. My hope is to connect those who struggle in similar ways with their own stories, so they can shift perspective to what keeps them alive, rather than continuing a potential march toward a premature death at their own hands.

We connect diverse metro Atlanta teens to resources for building their confidence, increasing their capacity to meet life’s demands and ensuring their future success.Since 1993, VOX has provided quality, educational supports – positive things to do after school, safe places to grow, and opportunities to learn and feel valued – to a diverse group of Atlanta teens. We live in a different world now, but VOX is thriving and relevant because we continue to innovate in youth and leadership development while teaching teens the critical skill of finding, honing and sharing their voices.
