Created and taught a graduate level course: Applied Electromagnetics for RF and Optical EngineersCourse summary: This course covered several of the most common applications of classical electromagnetic analysis in industry today for both optical and RF engineers. Topics included introductions to metamaterials (EBG, PBG, and FSS), electromagnetic properties of materials, antenna theory including arrays (coupled and uncoupled arrays), and scattering of particles and apertures. This course relied upon two approaches to convey the topics: in-class discussion and use of ANSYS’ electromagnetic software, HFSS, for simulation. HFSS served as a virtual lab to explore the electromagnetics and gain both a quantitative and qualitative comfort with the electromagnetic phenomena while also gaining familiarity with the use of an electromagnetic field solver prevalent in industry.

Responsibilities included actively working in simulation, fabrication, and characterization of Infrared Frequency Selective Surfaces and IR material characterization. Also worked with other projects extending RF concepts to IR/optical domain. Worked extensively in cleanroom environment for nanofabrication of devices that were designed.
