Through subordinate supervisors, plan, direct and coordinate the work of criminalists, laboratory technicians and other employees assigned to the Serology/DNA Unit, as they examine physical evidence related to criminal acts for body fluids and DNA. Prepare the Unit annual budget from requests and data supplied by subordinates. Review, select and oversee contracts for related services. Make recommendations, review and approve methods for improving services to the Department. Develop policies and solutions pertaining to personnel, equipment, supplies and physical facilities. Prepare and direct the preparation of narrative and statistical reports and correspondence. In the absence of the Laboratory Director (Chief Forensic Chemist II), direct the day to day operations of the Criminalistics Laboratory of the Scientific Investigation Division.

Greater Los Angeles Area

Completed serology case work in the Serology/DNA Unit (SDU) until promoted to supervisor in 2005. Supervised the evening and morning shifts in the SDU until the laboratory moved to a new location in 2007, then supervised half of the SDU.

Huntington Beach, Ca

Routine and complex analysis on trace evidence, serology, blood, urine and breath alcohol and solid dose drugs, as well as crime scene response, while assigned to the Scientific Investigation Unit of the Police Department. Testified in court on a regular basis & qualified as an expert witness in all of the listed disciplines. Promoted to supervisor in August 1990 & supervised four criminalists, maintained the Unit's Quality Assurance Program, wrote manuals for use of several breath testing instruments and continued regular case work with trace evidence and other disciplines.
