At CareerStep (now CareerCert), I worked as part of a small team of full-stack Ruby and BackBone / Marionette / CoffeeScript developers on an online continuing education system for EMTs and firefighters. This was a short engagement to help address their bug backlog and tech debt, assist with the update from Rails 4.2 to 5.2, and to integrate their system with Salesforce.

Blinker is a mobile app that assists vehicle buyers and sellers transact from listing through cash or financed purchase on a mobile device, with ownership verification, fraud checks, document verification, warranty and GAP addons, and finally bank-to-bank ACH transfers. As the first full-time developer at Blinker, I worked with all aspects of our business from writing the API, setting up and deploying to AWS servers, connecting to third party APIs and working with vendors like Experian and BlackBook, writing and helping to write requirements for new features, and building out those features by myself or as part of a team. As we grew as a company, specialists took over my infrastructure and product roles and I focused on Ruby on Rails API development. My biggest achievement was designing and building out a complete loan underwriting system using the ModelShop platform which takes Experian, vehicle, and applicant data and gives automated decisions and lending limits for purchase or refinance transactions. To date, tens of millions of dollars worth of loans have been funded through this system.Technologies used: Ruby, Rails, Groovy, Sidekiq, Redis, PostgreSQL, AWS, Docker, CircleCI, Git FlowServices integrated: Docusign, Carfax, NACHA, Experian, Ally Insurance, Twilio, Facebook, Twitter, Craigslist, Honeybadger, MailChimp, USPS, ModelShop, many others.

At Webficient, I worked as a full-stack developer on several different Ruby on Rails projects, including a mapping application for use by fire inspectors and fire fighters, an emergency response team triage application, a media delivery site, and a bulk craigslist ad posting site.

At LikeList, I led the initiative to refactor their system from a collection of ad-hoc PHP scripts into a cohesive CodeIgniter framework, improving stability and developer velocity. I also implemented PHPUnit and Selenium tests, further improving stability and minimizing QA time.

I was the primary developer of a PHP/CodeIgniter/MySQL/XML/DHTML car sales web site for a startup financial company. My application had to adapt frequently and quickly to our rapidly evolving business model and designs. I worked remotely with a team in San Francisco and a team in San Diego that built the decisioning engine, and for a time I directed a pair of offshore developers to help with PHP development. For about six months, I took on a project to flesh out an ExtJS/Java/Struts administrative front end to the decisioning engine that had originally been prototyped by another team.

At Arch Technologies, I built and maintained web applications and other programs for a variety of clients. These included a reporting database for an environmental analysis company, online time tracking and specialized payroll management for an autism services agency, data synchronization between CRM systems and QuickBooks, and many other projects.

Responsible for managing multiple concurrent conversion projects, directly interacting with clients to assess their needs, converting, importing and verifying their data, and fielding technical assistance calls that fell within my areas of expertise.Developed a repeatable, standardized process for converting data into SchoolMAX using Access, SQL Server, and several Visual Basic tools written specifically for this process. Built custom reports for clients that were not feasible within the software’s built-in reporting engine.Traveled to client sites to teach my job to clients who wished to perform their own conversions.

Responsible for various JSP projects in all stages of their lifecycles, from revising and completing existing programs to designing and implementing entire applications. Projects included online legislative letter writing, content management systems, firefighters' personal exposure reporting, an Outlook plug-in, a web interface to a Microsoft Exchange calendar and online ticket sales applications.

Developed various PHP and PostgreSQL web applications. Projects included a trouble ticketing system, a real estate listing application, and various other data-driven web applications.

Project management and hands-on production of all in-house projects.Responsibilities included: Design and develop applications using ASP, PHP, Cold Fusion and PERL for web applications. Projects included: Design and development of custom content management systems; migration of existing client sites to in-house hosting and applications; start-to-finish design, development and implementations of a web-to-application link for QuickBooks time reporting; various dynamic web forms and applications.

Migrated two separate systems to BSR Advance C/S fund raising software using Microsoft Access and Visual Basic.Mapped equivalent fields between the systems, parsed relevant data out of free-form comment fields, merged and removed duplicate records.While here I also had the opportunity outside of my normal duties to automate a large data entry task, enabling the current staff to perform their normal fund-raising duties without needing to hire temporary data entry staff.

Developed various custom database applications using Microsoft Access, SQL Server, and AllBase. Projects included a standalone Customer Relationship Management system and the patient registration, document tracking systems and accounts receivable modules of the in-house software system. I started here as a data-entry temp, but I wrote several small programs to automate myself out of that job.
