As the Team Lead, my role straddles the line between technical and managerial. I own responsibility for our onsite datacenter and engineering labs. The scope of responsibility includes Network, Data Storage, Physical and Virtual Server environments, Power and Cooling, Authentication and Security, and Applications. I have been able to transform the Datacenter from the “wild wild west” to a purposefully structured and managed Datacenter. The result has been impactful to the software engineering team, decreasing deployment and build times, increasing uptime, and reducing costs. Served as the local IT resource for a growing office of 60 engineers. I supported 80 Linux Servers in a SGE farm, NetApp NAS, Cisco and HP switches and routers, Net Backup, VMWare, Desktop support, equipment procurement, Active Directory and NIS user account management, Cisco UCS, IP Phones, Cisco Jabber, and Dell KACE.I also worked with a globally disperse team of 5 SysAdmins, in 3 time zones, across 4 sites in North America and 4 sites in APAC. Working on the Corporate IT Operations team, I was tasked with refreshing an antiquated storage and virtualization environment. This included architecting and deploying NetApp storage in 6 sites, to provide a consolidated storage solution and DR capabilities, as well as, installing vSphere 5.1 to replace Hyper-V. Other responsibilities included:• Serving as team lead, delegating tasks and projects to Systems Administrators.• Providing third level support in a tiered support system.• Working with management to develop a training plan for the team members.• Providing technical expertise and recommendations for departmental projects inside and outside of Corporate IT Operations.

A member of the IT Customer Operations group, supporting customer facing enterprise servers as well as the network and SAN infrastructure for the Production, DR and Development environments. Architecting, deploying and supporting Windows, vSphere, RHEL and SuSE servers, Cisco networks, and NetApp Storage. Focused on process improvement, cost reduction and documentation. Responsible for day to day operations of servers including installations, upgrades, data protection, documentation, acquisition and other daily activities.Accomplishments:• Saved $85k on server hardware support renewals by changing the SLA on non-critical systems and implementing an onsite spares support model.• Started an internal Knowledge Base for IT processes.• Led a project to replace an aging EMC SAN with new NetApp equipment, resulting in increased functionality, expansion capabilities, performance and cost savings.• Re-architected the Development environment SAN, reclaiming 50% of the allocated space.• Participated in the acquisition of 2 companies, integrating their systems into our production environment, and assuming the management of their servers.• Closed and migrated an acquired datacenter in Texas to an existing datacenters in Wisconsin and North Carolina.• Part of a team that integrated a new imaging technology into our existing EDC systems and adapted the architecture to fit our environment.

Part of a team dedicated to providing support for NetApp’s Major Accounts, specializing in SAN and NAS technologies as well as Hardware Troubleshooting. SAN technologies include Windows, Linux, and VMWare host configuration and troubleshooting, fiber switch troubleshooting, and storage side target and LUN configuration for FCP and iSCSI. NAS technologies include CIFS and NFS configuration on the host and client side, as well as authentication troubleshooting. Hardware Troubleshooting includes NetApp storage systems and Brocade fiber switches. Responsibilities:• Troubleshoot customer issues and provide detailed action plans, to minimize downtime and insure timely recoveries.• Coordinate onsite resources with customer maintenance windows.• Create new knowledgebase articles to capture new learning’s for reuse throughout the center and customer base.• Mentor and Collaborate with level 1 and 2 Technical Support Engineers.Accomplishments:• Saved NetApp Thousands of dollars by identifying a problem with the case handling procedures which was causing multiple parts to be auto-shipped for a single issue.• One of the first 25 engineers in the support center to complete the NetApp accreditation process.• NCDA certification

Responsible for managing and growing the IT team, budgeting, cost reductions, and process improvements. Liaison to R&D, Application Developers, Project Managers and Senior Management. Responsible for providing primary Linux support for Production, Development and Infrastructure servers, including; IP Tables, Sendmail, DNS, basic OS settings, troubleshooting and performance monitoring. Network support including Cisco routers Cisco ASA and Checkpoint and IP Tables Firewalls. Work with other team members contributing knowledge to IT projects and providing assistance with project testing and implementation. Provide Secondary Windows Server support. Mentoring to new employees. LAN and telecom support including; Cisco switch management, Nortel phone switch and Octel voicemail system management, and adds, moves and changes of data and telecom ports. Desktop support including; virus management, patch management, Windows and Linux troubleshooting, new system configurations, upgrades and rebuilds, hardware/software troubleshooting and repair, and warranty support. Server support including; DNS, DHCP, Active Directory Domain administration, backups, MS Exchange administration, FTP, patch and virus management, server OS installs and troubleshooting for Windows and Linux servers. Facilities support including; maintaining A/V systems and conference room PCs, and collaborating with global sites to provide data, voice and video connections for multi-site meetings.
