Responsible for building a new cloud data warehouse (Amazon Redshift, 2014) and the supporting processes to keep it updated and running smoothly. Collect data from variety of sources (database, API, flat file, logs, etc.) and orchestrate refresh scheduling to make consolidated data available to analysts and business users. Design and build ETL platform to enable processes to scale and realize efficiencies. Implement big-data tools (Airflow, Spark/EMR) to handle large volumes. Vast experience with SQL, Python, data integration, REST and SOAP API's, and many other tools/technologies. Also develop reports (Tableau, D3) and manage our Tableau deployment. Build and maintain a web front-end to house all reports for business use that handles authentication/authorization and gives company branding and look & feel to the reports. Responsible for data security and access.Own and manage Amazon Web Services footprint. Current stack is reliant on a variety of compute, storage, network, and database services in AWS, including serverless and distributed/clustered computing. Part of a small 5-person team that built an end-to-end enterprise-wide analytics solution from the ground up. Responsibilities ranged from data exploration to ETL development to data warehousing to report creation. Worked with the IT team to get data flowing out of business systems and into the data warehouse, as well as with stakeholders in the business for report and metrics development. Business areas served include finance, operations, marketing, sales, and c-staff. Technologies in the analytics stack included Pentaho Data Integration, SQL Server, and Tableau. Used Fusion-io flash hardware to accelerate our own internal systems. Also used cloud compute and database resources in Azure.Gained a strong understanding of ERP and CRM systems through analyzing and reverse- engineering the data. Advocated business process improvement across the company as shortcomings were revealed in the data, and built bridges between systems as necessary. Operated as a jack-of-all-trades, with projects involving hardware configuration, web development, database administration, information security, and internal R&D in addition to everyday responsibilities.
