About Jeff Drew

Jeff Drew is a Editor-in-Chief, Journal of Accountancy at AICPA. He possess expertise in editing, writing, ap style, publications, magazines and 44 more skills. Colleagues describe him as "I worked with Jeff for the first two years he worked at The News & Observer. Jeff started out working in the agate department which I headed. For those outside of realm of sports journalism, agate is statistical data present in the newspaper. In sports, that means box scores from games, results and schedules for all levels of sports teams, standings for various sports leagues and much more. Agate is not a glorious post. It requires a lot of tedious compilation of information, then finding a way to code it for proper display in the newspaper. It's a great place for someone to start as they learn computer codes and deal with pressures of working on deadline. Jeff mastered those two facets wonderfully. I also understand that those who start out in agate do not really want to stay there, they want to learn more. I encourage those to get involved in other areas of the newspaper sports industry, and as a result of hard work and knowledge, Jeff excelled as a writer and covered a variety of sports. He presence on our staff was vital to our success, and I highly recommend him for any position for which he applies. Not only is Jeff a dedicated worker, he is also a good person. Adding him to your team would be like signing Michael Jordan in his prime!" and "If the powers that be saw fit to add the Unsung Newsroom Heroes category to the Pulitzer Prizes, Jeff Drew, I have little doubt, would emerge triumphant. Why? First, Jeff is a thorough, whip-smart editor. Fact errors, crummy ledes, vague pronouns and questionable headlines go to his desk to die. Second, Jeff is a good boss. He is firm when he needs to be firm, but he is always considerate, kind, fair and patient. We would disagree from time to time, but he listened to what I had to say and, when he found it prudent, changed his course of action based on my thoughts -- a rare, and welcome, humility. Third, Jeff never stops learning. To wit, his knowledge of business, after years at Triangle Business Journal, rivals his knowledge of basketball. And I'm pretty sure he knows more about basketball than anyone who covers the ACC for a living. Fourth: I know hundreds of journalists. Pulitzer winners, Pulitzer finalists, editors of large metro papers, overworked managing editors, and poor souls who work at Bloomberg. Jeff works as hard as any of them, perhaps harder. It is something of a cliche to say a professional is "committed to excellence," but Jeff really is. I cannot emphasize enough how strongly he has my highest recommendation."

Listed skills include Editing, Writing, Ap Style, Publications, and 45 others.
