Range Generation Next LLC (RGNext) operates the United States Air Force space launch ranges headquartered at Patrick Air Force Base in Florida and Vandenberg Air Force Base in California. It also supports ballistic missile, guided weapon, and aeronautical tests and evaluations.
Systems Engineer, Staff (Lead Flight Software Operations Engineer)
Collaborate with multidisciplinary engineering teams and subsystem leads to design, test, launch and operate multi-billion dollar, secure, jam-resistant, Milstar & Advanced Extremely High Frequency (AEHF) military space satellite programs for the US government. 1) Lead Flight Software Technical Advisor for all satellite design, test, and operational issues. Develop multiple iterations of the Flight Software portion of the On-Orbit Handbook (deliverable) for operating and troubleshooting satellite operations. Train/mentor 15 engineers. Lead all weekly Flight Software working group meetings. Track changes, discrepancies, and communicate subsystem impacts feeding into software releases. Plan and execute Test Readiness Reviews, Release Reviews, Deployment Passplans (on-console technical advisor checklists). 2) Manage the flight software portion of satellite testing, following MIL-STD-1553B and other standards. Develop, review and implement test procedures and protocols, troubleshoot issues, document and track discrepancies.3) Ensure 100% satellite COMSEC availability - conduct on-console commanding, telemetry monitoring, and metrics tracking. Address anomaly resolutions with cross-functional teams for 24/7 on-orbit health & status, safety and risk reduction.4) Work side-by-side with USAF gov’t operators to address operational nuances of each satellite. Implemented 5 major, highly complex, on-orbit, software upgrades and patch installs for continuous improvement and sustainment operations. 5) Troubleshot and recovered two, onboard computer anomalies back to full operational capability. Chaired expert data collection, analyses and anomaly resolution investigations using Fish Bone Analysis - Employee of the Month Jan 2013.6) Managed the development, collection, tracking, and analysis of software and program risk management metrics used to monitor all software processes and milestone progress for the Theater High Altitude Area Defense (THAAD) program.

Collected and analyzed data on air transportation, impact to operations. 2) Directed the deployment of a Joint Task Force drug interdiction mission involving 21 helicopters and 143 Army troops aboard three C-5 cargo jets in support of US-led, anti-drug operations. $300 million in seized weapons & drugs.3) Consolidated the deployment of the 25th Infantry Division – well over 10,000 Army troops, 60 Blackhawk helicopters and 125 armored and support vehicles in support of Operations IRAQI FREEDOM and ENDURING FREEDOM.4) Family Liaison Officer: Provided heart-breaking, next-of-kin notifications to several families, due to the untimely deaths of three squadron members over the course of four years. Worked side-by-side with the Base Chaplain to make the door-to-door notifications, as well as coordinating all support services for the entire squadron. Most challenging tasks performed in my military or civilian careers combined.
