I am a camp educator. I founded my camp in 1991 and at that time, I called myself a camp person. As I grew my camp and become more involved the camp world, I realized that I was doing important work by giving children exceptional experiences at camp. So I started calling myself a camp professional. This was my way of announcing that I was doing something meaningful. As time passed, I realized that what I was doing in camp was education. Campers were learning vital skills at camp. Skill that they were not learning elsewhere. So I started calling myself a camp educator. After almost 40 years in the camp industry, I have worked at day camps and resident camps. I have founded a camp, Jefunira Camp. I was the managing director of Green Camp Bali. I have served as Vice-President of the Western Association of Independent Camps, I have volunteered in various roles within the American Camp Association. I have worked with camps around the world. I am not the co-founder of Camp Education International. We believe that every child deserves three foundational forms of education, early child education, K-12 education and camp education. The goal of Camp Education International is to ensure that every child has access to exceptional camp education.
