STRATEGIC ROADMAP GENERATIONConceived, prototyped and promoted a new product line architecture that provides a roadmap for the business to migrate from its traditional telephony solution suite to a more open, visionary IP enabled product line. Utilizing the Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) as its base, this services oriented architecture (SOA) leveraged several open standards integrating carefully selected ingredient technologies (open source and commercial) in a component based fashion to best fit within a customer’s IT centric environment.INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY GENERATIONProvided significant contributions to intellectual property activities. Participated in think-tank groups for the sole purpose of generating new and innovative ideas that can become patentable and provide profitable differentiation for the business in a highly competitive market.

MANAGEMENT AND MENTORINGSuccessfully managed development team and delivered SOA Component Framework in conjunction with above accomplishments. Responsibilities included managing both outsourced and internal staff, educating all levels of the business in new technologies and development approach, selection of key engineering staff, project plan development and final reviewer of all architecture and technology decisions. Projects were delivered on time and within budgetary limits.PRODUCT/APPLICATION LIFECYCLE MANAGMENTSuccessfully managed a development organization covering all engineering lifecycle activities for three major product lines of the business. This staff of 35 engineers and 5 managers required managing expenses within budget of $8M with several development projects executing simultaneously. Majority of products produced were of a highly available and reliable nature (>99.999% uptime) and enterprise centric.OUTSOURCING MANAGEMENTInter-national - Successfully managed multiple development projects with teams of engineers outsourced in multiple locations in India (Pune, Chennai, Mumbai, and Bangalore) and Ireland (Belfast). Besides managing internal project resources, travel to on site locations included activities such as staffing selection, project status and training, and reviewing technical and product related requirements. Typical project size ranged from $750K to $3M.Intra-national - Successfully managed and provided technical leadership in multiple projects outsourced within the United States (North Carolina, Illinois, Texas, New York, Colorado). The largest project, at $5.2M, was completed within budget and ahead of schedule. It involved two teams of developers (one local, the other remote) working together as a virtual team providing an application building platform that was the core of all application building for the business.
