Mobile Application Engineering Team - North America

One of four Mobile Application Engineers supporting U.S. and Canadian ongoing pre/post sales duties for direct accounts, territory accounts, and VARs/Partners. Duties include, but not limited to, the management of Mobile Computer and Scanner technical sales, integration efforts, and deployments. Other essential skills consist of mobility studies, competitive analysis, and the gathering of key requirements for use with Datalogic mobility road mapping and the strategic integration of mobile components into customer’s new and existing applications and systems. Assist and manage corporate engineering and support resources with the development and troubleshooting of new scanners and mobile computers. Oversee and manage any potential quality control issues with mobile computers and/or scanners/accessories as they relate to the customers’ presale and post-sale activities. Conduct troubleshooting analysis and resolution. Create simplified and detailed staging routines/procedures and technical documentation for updating mobile device operating systems and device staging while taking into consideration all levels of the user’s technical abilities.

Mobile Application Engineering Team - North America

Achievement Highlights:Amusement Consulting – Managed all aspects of Datalogic SkorpioX3 to SkorpioX4 mobile device replacement and technical upgrade for their Amusement Park and Fair customers in the U.S. including, but not limited to, the Washington, Texas, and Oregon Fairs. Worked with A.C. to gather end user needs and performed analysis of existing SX3 device configuration and its Web based application. Created new configuration of settings, application, device lockdown, and staging routines for the SX4 devices. Assisted end user Fairs & Parks with troubleshooting of Wi-Fi security and other device settings for modification and then incorporation into configuration and staging routines. Provided onsite and remote support for the SX4 migration.At Home – Managed technical sales and engineering process for the conversion of At Home mobile devices to the Datalogic FalconX3+ mobile device. Performed analysis and worked with the customer to determine specific needs and configuration utilizing a 5250 Terminal Emulation client and a thick client application for printing to a Bluetooth printer. Assisted with the requirements definition, demo, and pilot of a Wavelink Mobile Device Management implementation for remote device management. Conducted successful FX3+/Wavelink MDM pilot and won a Million-dollar opportunity.Chevron – Migrated existing Datalogic FalconX3+ device, Web Based application, device configuration, and device lockdown to the FalconX4 mobile device using skill sets in the previous two achievements and the job description listed above. Performed all work and tasks remotely/virtually due to the 2020 travel bans in California and Washington. Chevron is currently rolling out the FX4s to new gas station openings across the U.S. and as replacements for their no longer repairable FX3+ units as needed.

Mobile Technology Professional Services - North America

Designed, integrated, implemented, troubleshot, and supported mobile and wired devices and their associated vertical and management applications within wireless and wired network infrastructures. Discovered and utilized next generation technologies to assist customers in creating streamlined and cost saving business solutions. Professional Services - Used acquired knowledge base to provide technical expertise integrating mobile devices, scanners, PCs, and appliances into retail and non-retail accounts.Achievement Highlights:Mobility Evolution Partners – Engagement of Professional Services integrating and supporting Remote Management solutions and Mobile Computer Applications into customer’s new and existing wireless mobile infrastructures. Integration of Text to Speech and Speech to Text applications which increased user efficiencies and consequently lead to greater productivity.Precor – Engagement of Professional Services defining, researching, qualifying, and integrating a WAN Optimization solution. The appliance solution provides caching, traffic shaping (QoS), and stateful packet inspection for use within fitness and health club networks utilizing Precor’s networked fitness equipment and their associated integrated multimedia consoles. The project led to the replacement of the existing solution and the implementation of the new Exinda WAN Optimization appliances within the fitness organizations utilizing Precor’s networked fitness equipment.

Enterprise Mobility Team - Pacific Northwest Sales Division

Pre/post sales duties and responsibilities for large direct accounts including Boeing, Costco, and REI, territory/direct accounts, and VARs. Duties included, but were not limited to, the management of Mobile Computer upgrades and deployments, the replacement of older Symbol PDT and other manufacturer’s equipment with state of the art rugged and Enterprise MC gear, and the development of staging scripts to facilitate the ease of loading MCs since none were available via formal engineering channels. Other essential skills consisted of scanner integration, mobility studies, competitive analysis, and the gathering of key requirements for use with Enterprise mobility road mapping and the strategic integration of mobile components into customers' new and existing Enterprise applications and systems. Assisted and managed corporate engineering resources with the development of new scanners, mobile computers, and Micro Kiosk products. Oversaw and managed quality control issues with scanners/scanner cables, mobile computers, and Micro Kiosks as they related to the customers’ presale and post-sale activities. Conducted troubleshooting analysis and resolution.

Enterprise Mobility Team - Pacific Northwest Sales Division

Achievement Highlights:Boeing - Sales of rugged MC9090 equipment across the Boeing manufacturing environment. Facilitated and assisted in the implementation of a Wavelink MC remote management system.Costco Warehouses, POS, Depots, & Pharmacies - MC9060G and MC9090G rollouts, Micro Kiosks, and Scanner upgrades and deployments. Implemented LS4278 RF and LS4208 tethered scanner rollouts. One of the first major retailers to implement LS4278 RF front end hand scanners. Eliminated a major issue with scanner cables malfunctioning due to cord strain. Overcame major concerns of scanner theft/loss by working with engineering to implement a beeper signal when the scanner left RF coverage. Project accomplished during a Symbol Account Manager transition. Converted entrenched LXE customer to Motorola rugged MC9090s inside their depots and VC6096s (vehicle computers) for use in their yard hostlers (trailer cabs) connected to the Costco RF yard management system. Overcame major quality issues with MC9090s during pilot phase. Worked extensively onsite, and with corporate entities, to overcome hardware issues, successfully completed two Depot pilot locations, which then facilitated the rollout of MC9090s to all Costco Depots. Developed 2D imaging DS6708-DL tethered scanner solution for scanning driver license barcodes to parse Name, Street, etc. for auto placement of data into the Costco Pseudoephedrine DB. Saved the Pharmacy staff and customers minutes per transaction due to the elimination of writing the data into a hardcopy log.REI Stores & Warehouses - Development of MC75 solution, Micro Kiosk upgrades, and deployments. Development and rollout of the WT4090 (wearable terminal), and finger scanner, for hands free picking and packaging applications on the REI shipping line and for use in other areas in the warehouses. I helped to manage this project, as well as fulfill the technical role, while the Motorola Account Manager was engaged with other sales activities.

One of three integration specialists between newly acquired software subsidiary, Realtime Computer Specialists (RCS), and Telxon. Telxon was an early developer and manufacturer of Batch and Wireless Mobile computers. RCS was an early developer of Retail mobile applications for the Point of Sale (POS) industry (IBM 4680 and 4690 PCs, Series/1, etc.) and Telxon mobile devices/wireless LANs. Duties included direct Pre and Post sales support of RCS apps including but not limited to Shelf Price Audit, Inventory, DSD, etc. Responsible for designing application specifications between customers and RCS/Telxon, app testing, installation of apps and hardware, etc. Worked with the higher end retail technology adopters on the East Coast and the US to implement their first mobile solutions.

Timonium, Maryland

Managed telephone support system, and small team, for Cado's customer base running ContelMini-Computers utilizing accounting applications for specific vertical markets. Programs were written in the proprietary CADOL II and CADOL III languages for use with the proprietary CONTEL equipment. Verticals included Construction, Floral, Medical, Restaurant, and Fuel Delivery. Duties included advanced troubleshooting of hardware and software systems over the phone and onsite, support staff training and supervision, systems setup/installation/training, and extensive development and modification of the accounting applications for the above verticals.

Baltimore, Maryland

Designed and developed applications for the newly installed IBM System 36 Warehouse Management System. Application and Menu system development included data entry & manipulation, error reporting, productivity reports, shipping deconsolidation reports, and the coordination of DB maintenance with the Midwest central site. At that time the system utilized a new concept in managing warehouses - printed barcode tags for the parts.

Columbia, Maryland

Programmed and maintained DEC PDP 11/70 for the initial implementation of the Maryland DMV Vehicle Emissions Inspection Program (VEIP). Responsibilities also included handling hardware and software issues at the central and remote sites, coordination of tested vehicle data and the connectivity/maintenance of the DB with the Motor Vehicle Administration, documentation, software upgrades, and the development of applications for the "real-time" data exchange environment.

College Park, Maryland

Programmed early generation Computer Based Instruction applications via Basic languages and proprietary hardware specific extensions for enlisted personnel at Military bases around the world. Initially deployment locations focused on Eastern Block frontier locations during the cold war. CBI applications were designed as games to assess basic reading, math, and English skills. Students would be dropped into training modules if assessments failed. Team produced and developed their own Video discs for gaming video layer. Platforms included early PC's with video disc players and touch screens. Utilized early Beta DEC VK100 (GIGI) PC's for secondary generation of hardware/software solution.

Washington, District Of Columbia

Operated and maintained Nixdorf 600 & 480 computers for Accounting Department while attending the University of Maryland, College Park. Programmed Accounting jobs/tasks via proprietary Nixdorf programming language.
