I’m a seasoned environmental professional. If you ask me what I do for a living, I’ll say, “I’m a geologist” or “I’m an environmental consultant.” But what I really am is a problem solver. I do a lot of environmental due diligence. A Phase I environmental assessment is the first step. It involves looking at a property and determining historical uses and what chemicals might have contaminated it. Gas stations and dry cleaners are examples of likely problem sites that a Phase I might identify. One of my main areas has always been Phase II investigations (i.e., sampling activities). While a Phase I ESA scope of work doesn't change from state to state, Phase II rules are very state specific. Unless you work in a state frequently, the Phase II rules will be a mystery. That’s why I've developed a network of qualified associate environmental consultants across the US. Phoenix’s associate consultants cover 25 states and have on average 17 years of experience.
