About Jeffrey Burton

Sergeant Major (Ret) Jeffrey Burton began his military career as a mortar infantry soldier in the Army National Guard while attending Neoga (IL) High School in June 1995. He entered basic training the summer of 1996 and after completing his initial entry training at Fort Benning, Georgia was assigned to Company B, 2/130th Infantry Battalion, 35th Infantry Division in Effingham, IL. Mr. Burton deployed after September 11, 2001 with B Co 2/130th IN to Mannheim Germany and guarded military assets and later as a Forward Deployed Career Counselor (FDCC) in March of 2012. Prior to joining the Illinois Army National Guard Recruiting and Retention force, Mr. Burton served as an infantry team leader, squad leader and held various other special duties to include retention NCO in the organization. Mr. Burton was selected to become an Instructor/Writer at the Professional Education Center Recruiting and Retention NCO School at Camp Robinson, AR, in 2008. In August 2008, he completed the Staff and Faculty Course and Fort Jackson South Carolina and became a Writer/Instructor in the Training Development Division at the Recruiting and Retention NCO School. Mr. Burton is a graduate of Primary Leadership Development Course, Basic and Advanced Non-Commissioned Officer Course, United States Army Sergeants Major Academy, Recruiting and Retention NCO course, and Master Resilency Course.
