New Commons is an innovative, Providence RI based, "Think, Link and Do Tank". We worked on redefining and expanding current thinking around economic and community development, conditions based strategic planning, Resiliency strategies and emerging workforce development strategies.My focus was on developing the foundation for what became the core of the Conscious Leadership paradigm; which defines the new mindsets, models and methods necessary to lead the multi-generational and multi-ethnic workforce of the modern economy. As part of that process I developed "The Bigger Know Principles of Conscious Leadership" development program.

I started SyNet in 1987 as a Cable Television contracting company but the vision was to take advantage of the opportunities occurring in the newly emerging telecommunications industry with a $17,000.00 investment.Within 3 years the firm made the transition to becoming a Telecommunications Integration firm that was on the forefront of designing, installing and engineering video, voice and data networks using fiber optic, coaxial and twisted pair infrastructures.Over the years we maintained a leadership position in the New England area as we expanded into becoming a VAR of LAN/WAN hardware, wireless technologies and sound and security systems.Our client list included government agencies, colleges and universities, Fortune 500 companies and contless SMB's.I turned the management of SyNet in 2005 when I realized that I had taken it as far as I wanted to and was ready for my next challenge. I subsequently sold it to my partners in 2008 after guiding it through the managerial transition.It is still a successful company and is a dominant player in the industry in New England.I loved building that company.

I was recruited by Kip Bergstrom of the Rhode Island Economic Policy Council to take the helm of RITEC. RITEC, now called Tech Collective, is a private/public partnership aimed at accelerating the capabilities of growing technology companies in Rhode Island.Over the next 5 years the board and staff of the organization blossomed and member companies and agencies were deeply engaged in meaningful initiatives, helping to catapult Rhode Island from rank 21 to rank 11 in the Milken Institute State Science and Technology Index, the biggest jump of any state.Key accomplishments included building solid collaborations between leaders in the business community, colleges & universities, government and within political spheres to further workforce development, economic development initiatives and to create the conditions that foster entrepreneurialism within the state.We successfully competed for, received and administered in excess of $12million of US DOL grants designed to reinvent and then implement new educational strategies and models designed to upgraded the capabilities of the highest skilled IT engineers and developers within the workforce.The last initiative undertaken during my tenure was to extend our model and programs to include the Life Sciences industry in the state. The successful implementation of this strategy resulted in our rebranding the organization and positioning for sustainable growth.
