Cyber Network Instructor
Current• Applies the U.S. Army Training and Doctrine Command (TRADOC) Army Learning Model (ALM) for lectures, facilitation, hands-on, and distance-learning. Provides instruction for the US Army 17C, 17A, and 170A Military Occupational Specialty (MOS), Department of the Army (DA) Cyber Civilians, and US Marine 1721 MOS.• Utilized Openstack to design, build, and manage a virtual training environment. Architecture automatically generates Debian, Ubuntu, and Windows machines utilizing bash, PowerShell, and python. • Utilizes the Open Systems Interconnection (OSI) model and other leading institutions such as IANA, IETF, and IEEE as a reference to discuss offense and defense Cyber operation concepts. Discussed various protocol headers at OSI layers 2 thru 7 and how they are formatted, used, and potentially misused. • Employed Scapy tool to craft network messages to potentially exploit network service protocols without the need for toolkits. Leveraged Python to construct Transmission Control Protocol (TCP) STREAM, User Data Protocol (UDP) DGRAM, and RAW Sockets according to RFC 791, 793, and 768 guidelines.Engaged students on passive and active cyber reconnaissance techniques. Addressed tools like WireShark, T-Shark, TCPDUMP, Berkley Packet Filters (BPF), P0f, whois, dig, traceroute, Netcat, and NMAP. Students learned how to utilizes these tools to discover and map remote networks.• Educated Cyber students on how to brainstorm ways to create encrypted network tunnels through a simulated network. Students crafted tunnels with Secure Shell (SSH) Local, Remote and Dynamic port forwarding. Confabulated on other forms and types of covert channels such as ICMP, DNS, and HTTP(s) tunnels.• Reinforced base understanding of Network Filtering techniques. Learners engaged spatial cognition to visualize traffic from to/from end-hosts and network devices. Tools and applications discussed were Access Control Lists (ACL), Netfilter IPTables and NFTables, and Snort.
