IT2 on board the USS Chosin CG-65

I was a Network Administrator on USS Chosin CG-65 in charge of a Un-classified and Secret Server.My duties included basic Network Maintenance, adding and removing clients from the server, and also basic workstation setup.Other duties included running Network cable (CAT-5 and Fiber) and installing new workstations through out the ship. I was a Network Administrator which included working with Un-classified and Secret Servers. This included everyday maintenance like making… Show more I was a Network Administrator on USS Chosin CG-65 in charge of a Un-classified and Secret Server.My duties included basic Network Maintenance, adding and removing clients from the server, and also basic workstation setup.Other duties included running Network cable (CAT-5 and Fiber) and installing new workstations through out the ship. I was a Network Administrator which included working with Un-classified and Secret Servers. This included everyday maintenance like making Server backups, and adding new clients to the server. I was the go to guy on the ship for any problems with the Un-classified server. I was in charge of about 100 workstations on the Un-classified server and about 30 on the secret server. On those workstations I had 400 people through out the ship working on them at different times of the day. 80% of the issues I faced were with windows applications. This included issues with Outlook or getting connected to the server, or even the hard drive crashing. I would then have to install a new hard drive and get everything reinstalled to work on the server again.The navy demands customer service all day every day. This consisting of setting up new computers through out the ship, or troubleshooting issues with the network. Show less
