Having put a lot of time and effort into building my skillset and knowledge of data centre operations, I was promoted to Senior DCT. I liaise with management and assist in co-ordinating the DCT team, also working with teams from other sites. This involves task allocation, resource utilisation, and weekly planning. I am an escalation point for the DCTs, providing any assistance needed and offering training and knowledge where required. I perform all the same tasks I did as a DCT, but now I take a wider overview of the day-to-day operations, ensuring that everyone in the team is meeting their SLAs and targets. I help management enforce compliance and policy, while encouraging the team to follow Microsoft culture and values. I act as the point of contact between different departments and the wider data centre team and remote groups such as DCIS, EG’s etc.I champion health & safety practices onsite and ensure all concerns are raised and actioned; this has been a major priority for Microsoft and is something I have fully embraced.

I processed orders every day for equipment that was required for each site. During my time there I went on to run my own team, travelling to Liverpool each week, staying there Monday to Friday.
