Jeffrey Smith is a Strategic Biopharmaceutical Leader | Patient Advocacy | Commercial Strategy at Ionis Pharmaceuticals, Inc.. He possess expertise in pharmaceutical industry, commercialization, biotechnology, biochemistry, immunology and 17 more skills. Colleagues describe him as "I've greatly enjoyed working with Jeff in his patient advocacy role at Biogen, and always appreciate his professionalism, intelligence and commitment. He represented Biogen on a multi-stakeholder, multi-organization team that I led to address the issue of minority underrepresentation in MS research. I really appreciated his thoughtful and insightful contributions to the group. He was on the team to represent the biopharma perspective, but he was also able to expertly reflect and build on other perspectives as well. Jeff and his team organized and hosted a patient advocacy leadership summit in spring 2017 that resulted in a successful bi-directional sharing of information — Biogen gained a richer understanding of current patient needs from the advocate viewpoint, and the advocacy leaders came away with helpful new information about Biogen’s findings and patient-centered initiatives. He has also helped create connections between my organization and different groups within Biogen that have led and will continue to lead to valuable collaborations. Jeff is a great leader and listener, very organized and responsive, and has excellent, actionable ideas … in all ways a terrific partner and collaborator! " and "Jeff was an incredibly impactful leader within the patient advocacy team within the MS unit at Biogen. As a programs director at a patient advocacy organization, I worked directly with Jeff to collaborate on partnership initiatives to identify patient needs and gaps to ultimately create necessary patient education tools and programs for the MS community. Jeff always viewed his role as a voice for patients and put people living with MS and their support partners at the highest level in order to bring the highest caliber of resources to them. Jeff led his team to work collectively and collaboratively with the key stakeholders and patient advocacy organizations within the community to provide the most comprehensive and life-changing initiatives for people living with MS and their support partners. He is always diligent and organized in his follow-up communications and with creating processes and strategies for new educational programs and campaigns. Jeff's key contributions to our work together was his scientific background and knowledge of working within the healthcare community; compassion for helping and impacting patients; ability to listen to his partner organizations and patients; and, effectively implement complex strategies based on the needs of the community. I am very happy and privileged to work with Jeff in a capacity to truly provide help and care to people living with a chronic disease. "
