Digital Forensic Examiner
Current• Assists with digital media investigations and operations in support of major crimes criminal investigations such as: death investigations, sexual assault, child exploitation, identity theft (credit card fraud), cyberstalking, and narcotics. • Performs digital forensic evidence preservation, forensic analysis using appropriate forensic tools, data recovery, and extraction of digital information gathered from devices such as computer hard drives, storage devices, mobile devices, gaming consoles, vehicle infotainment systems, and any other digital media submitted to the laboratory by military or federal law enforcement agencies.• Follows all set standing operating procedures and industry standards while conducting a forensic examination in an ANAB accredited forensic laboratory.• Performs technical reviews of examinations conducted by peers to ensure the following of standard operating procedures, grammar and formatting, and the technical accuracy of the forensic analysis reports.• Creates professional written reports of the findings in the forensic examinations in a manner which is suitable for courtroom presentation.• Provides expert witness testimony in federal and/or military courtrooms as required to present the findings in criminal or civil court to assist with the courtroom procedure.• Keeps up to date with the current industry tools, techniques, and artifacts.• Assists the investigating agency with any questions or additional data that is requested regarding digital forensics and/or the examinations performed for them.
