- Responsibilities included working with operations to ensure production targets were met, including grade and recovery. - Issue daily production reports and troubleshoot and report on any discrepancies. - Monitored daily emission reports for dryers and ensure targets were being met. - Monitored daily reagent usage and levels and worked to optimize associated costs. - Worked with procurement to negotiate contracts, place orders and receive shipments. - Utilize Six Sigma and Workout methodologies to optimize processes by working with the operators and the maintenance crews. - Collaborated with the central R&D group to analyze new process technologies, specifically analyzing hydro-float and column separator technology. - Assisted the product quality group in ensuring that our product SGN, UI and percentage breakage values were acceptable. - Developed and maintained screening efficiency reports for dry end product screening. - Programmed the DCS, making changes to set points, alarms, control limits and strategies. - Worked with the electrical group when upgrading a PLC to ensure all channels matched the DCS and that all interlocks were functioning appropriately. - Supervised the Metallurgical Lab and technician, who was responsible for sampling and analyzing process samples and performing special optimization projects. - Acted as the maintenance engineer and worked with all the trade supervisors in troubleshooting equipment issues, planning and scheduling weekly work and specifying equipment for replacement. - Managed the structural building audit and five-year remediation plan. - Completed several large design projects, including installation of animal feed system and replacing a screw conveyor with an en masse conveyor and control system for a fluid bed dryer discharge.
