Managed the daily operations of the Kentucky Division of Mine Permits, including regulation and policy implementation, budgeting, human resources and information technology. The Division of Mine Permits is responsible for the technical review and approval or denial of coal mining permit applications, including mining and reclamation plans, to ensure that all surface coal mining operations in Kentucky meet the minimum performance standards for environmental and public protection and reclamation as required by the federal Surface Mining Control and Reclamation Act (SMCRA) of 1977.
