This was a bad time to launch that career as the Recession derailed those plans. I learned that while it is taught that people are the most valuable resource of any company, the business and financial side of the business is truly the driver. As a result, I decided to pursue my MBA with a focus on Finance and Entrepreneurship while also having a strong professional experience at DeVry Education Inc. I made the decision to branch out as an Entrepreneur after my Father passed away, becoming a Financial Advisor. I opened an office in Englewood neighborhood of Chicago and worked as a financial advisor there for both Thrivent and Prudential. In 2021, my Mom had a stroke and I decided to relocate to Phoenix, AZ to help her maintain her independence. This is where I presently reside. Life is too short to not follow your dreams. I work to live, not live to work, and I assist my clients with strategies to do the same. This is the backbone of my financial practice and the core values that I live by. Outside of my career, I always look for ways to give back through volunteer and service opportunities. As a former nonprofit leader and Board Member, it is a core value to use philanthropy to act as a progressive force for social change. I also have a passion for Career Counseling and Outplacement, as this is an area where I can leverage my expertise for the benefit of others. Skills include: Leadership skills; public speaking ability; expertise in MS applications: Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Access, and Publisher; advanced statistics knowledge and interpretation with SPSS; knowledge of sourcing or recruitment practices; use of Job boards; cold calling skills; negotiation; international project management; extensive knowledge of East African region (Kenya/Uganda/Tanzania); networking abilities; non-profit and fundraising experience.
