Jeff has recently begun a career as a mediator, arbitrator and appellate consultant under the auspices of Concurrence ADR. He takes on this role following a two year stint on Wisconsin's Court of Appeals, District II, where he heard appeals from the circuit courts in the 12 county area that makes up Wisconsin's Appellate District II. Prior to his ascension to the bench, Jeff practiced law for more than 30 years at the national law firm of Quarles & Brady LLP in its Litigation Practice Group. During his long career, Jeff handled complex litigation matters in the areas of non-competes and unfair competition, property and land use, securities, closely held business, debtor-creditor and bankruptcy, and corporate insurance matters, becoming nationally recognized for his insurance coverage expertise and in the process developing a strong appellate practice. He handled several groundbreaking cases before the Wisconsin Supreme Court and regularly represented clients in numerous complex coverage matters. His career achievements in the area of insurance law include forming and chairing Quarles' insurance recovery practice, frequent lectures in Wisconsin and at national conferences on a variety of insurance-related topics, authoring numerous publications and the Pollution Insurance chapter of the ABA's Construction Insurance treatise, and serving as an adjunct professor at Marquette University Law School. He earned his J.D. from Ohio State University Moritz College of Law and his B.S. from Miami University.
