Automation Control Specialist
CurrentAutomation, programming, and technology are my passions. Working at Cardinal Glass for most of my career has provided a continuous supply of all these things. In addition to my education and experience with PLCs and motor control systems, I have gained a great deal of knowledge relating to vacuum processes, plasma sputtering technologies, and glass tempering systems. My years as the manager of a talented and amazing maintenance staff has rounded out my knowledge base and created a deep appreciation for the benefits of preventive measures to optimize machine uptime. My experience includes all of the following:• Eight years management of a maintenance team responsible for multiple 24x7 production lines including two glass tempering furnaces and a large surface area plasma sputtering coater• Management and coordination of multi-million dollar capital investment upgrades, and new equipment installations• Startup, integration, and maintenance of Servos, Variable Frequency Drives, MCC motor controls• Programming of Programmable Logic Controllers from multiple manufacturers• Troubleshooting and repair of various Power Supplies including supplies for plasma sputtering up to 180kW• Improvement, programming and maintenance/upkeep of multiple HMI systems including Wonderware and Ignition!• Water control systems incorporating pumps, cooling towers, heat exchangers, RO and DI generation• Maintenance of several CNC glass cutting systems • Maintenance of automated gantry systems• Setup and controls for plasma sputtering process gas controls• Vacuum pumps – familiar with startup and maintenance of multiple manufacturers of mechanical, diffusion, turbomolecular pumps• Troubleshooting using vacuum leak detection systems for vacuum chamber integrity and maintenance• Integration of numerous automated glass handling systems into continuously running production lines• Environmental controls
