Jemima practices in criminal, environmental, regulatory and public law.Jemima maintains a busy criminal practice, both prosecuting and defending Crown Court trials. She has been praised for her calm and considered court room manner. In addition, whilst on secondment to the Nursing and Midwifery Council, Jemima gained considerable experience of prosecuting disciplinary tribunal cases.Recent environmental, regulatory and public law cases concern the Environmental Protection Act 1990, sewage discharges in a coastal town and a judicial review challenging planning permission granted to build a hotel on the last protected beach in Mauritius.Finally, Jemima is appointed to the Attorney General’s ‘Junior Junior’ panel, is regularly instructed in judicial reviews and authored a chapter on constitutional reform in British Legal Reform (Bristol University Press, 2024).Prior to joining chambers, Jemima completed an LL.M. in Environmental Law and Policy completing modules on Environmental Lawyering, the Law and Policy of Climate Change, Judicial Review and Judicial Decision Making. This provided an ideal foundation for a career at the Bar in environmental and public law.Previous work has been in policy and governance including at The Law Society of England and Wales. At The Law Society, she supported a Legal Advisor on R (on the application of The Law Society) v Ministry of Justice [2018] EWHC 2094 (Admin) and SFO v ENRC [2018] EWCA Civ 2006 (in which the Society acted as intervener). Subsequently, she published an article on the legal issues of privilege in SFO v ENRC in the Lincoln’s Inn Law Journal. She also worked as a researcher for barristers in administrative, family and immigration cases where she drafted opinions, position statements, grounds of appeal and cross-examination.In addition, Jemima was the Founding President of the University of London Legal Forum, volunteered in the legal team of the Independent Workers’ Union of Great Britain and the Free Representation Unit, wrote case comments for the UK Supreme Court Blog and was a Trustee of the YMCA England and Wales.Awards:- Commonwealth Youth Awards Europe and Canada Winner (2022)- Lincoln's Inn Lord Denning Scholar (2019)- Universal Peace Federation Award Winner (2019)- Inspirational Women in Law Awards Finalist (2019)- Royal Commonwealth Society Associate Fellow (2017)- One Young World Carol Stone OBE Scholar (2016)- University of London Society Shield Award (2016)- Lincoln's Inn Lord Brougham Scholar (2016)
