The Greater Manchester Poverty Commission of 2012-14 advocated for an 'Action Group' to take forwards the Commission's recommendations. I spent 18 months working as Coordinator for what then became 'Greater Manchester Poverty Action'. I worked in communities around Greater Manchester researching and reporting on the experiences of people living with poverty and the initiatives and organisations working to tackle it.I also worked as a legal representative and welfare advisor at Salford Unemployed Centre (June 2016-April 2017). I prepared written submissions for clients appealing social welfare decisions, including ESA, PIP and UC sanctions, and represented clients at court. I worked on other cases involving immigration, tax, employment and housing law.

I spent three years with UNEP (the United Nations Environment Programme) making a contribution to several projects:- I worked in a project coordination and comms support role for the UNEP Inquiry into the Design of a Sustainable Financial System (www.unep.org/inquiry), a two year project under the UN Under Secretary General and Executive Director of UNEP Mr. Achim Steiner, looking at policy options to scale up capital flows to the green economy. (June 2014 - Oct 2015)- I worked as Special Assistant to the Executive Secretary of UNEP's Ozone Secretariat of the Montreal Protocol and Vienna Convention, during the Workshops on Hydrofluorocarbon Management and Open Ended Working Groups (July 2014 and April 2015), and the Meeting of the Parties (November 2014).- I was Project Assistant and then Project Coordinator for UNEP's Finance Initiative. I worked mostly on the Natural Capital Declaration, a project looking to advance UNEP's Green Economy by encouraging environmental and social accounting for business, integrated reporting, the embedding of environmental costs into financed lending, and other ways of promoting financial investment into ‘natural capital’, such as forestry, fisheries, agriculture (Dec 2012 - June 2014)- I was an Assistant Organiser and Rapporteur with CITES (the Convention of International Trade of Endangered Species)'​ MIKE (Monitoring the Illegal Killing of Elephants) Programme at CITES COP 16 in Bangkok, 2013, and IUCN's African Elephant Specialist Group' African Elephant Summit, Botswana, December 2013.
