Teen Services Manager
CurrentSupervisory: *Recruit, select, train, coach, and evaluate five-person team of assigned staff (1 FT, 4 PT)*Schedule staff including at teen service desk; Maintain departmental Google calendar with programs and FT staff scheduled absences*Delegate tasks appropriately, supervise staff constructively, and cultivate collaboration effectively*Serve as a person in charge in the absence of the Director and Assistant DirectorProgramming and Outreach: *Have a community engagement mindset; Develop and maintain effective relationships with schools, community groups, agencies, and nonprofits that serve teens*Evaluate programs the Teen Services Librarian develops for and with local teens to fulfill their diverse educational, recreational, and personal needsCollection Development: *Maintain active oversight of the teen collection as a whole to ensure a balanced collection that meets the interests and needs of the community*Select and weed all graphic-format materials, as well as fiction, nonfiction, and biographical books for the high school audience*Use Evergreen ILS daily reports to audit materials metadata for accuracyPatron Services: *Model exemplary customer service skills at the teen room service desk*Develop and maintain procedures for teen room service desk*Assess and respond to the needs and preferences of teens, their caregivers, educators, and other adults who use the resources of the teen departmentAdministrative: *Monitor and analyze the costs of library services in the Teen Services Department to develop, justify, administer, manage, and evaluate its budget*Develop goals and objectives for the department and contributes to furthering the Library’s mission while fulfilling its current goals and objectives*Participate in weekly meetings and share information with other departments; Maintain effective communication with all department staff*Work with the marketing staff to ensure a smooth roll-out of newsletters and publication of calendar events
