I have always been passionate about making sure children are heard and respected. I have provided child care, been a nanny and worked in public school districts. I have been a substitute, para-educator, provided 1:1 supervision, and helped parents advocate for the needs of their children. When my youngest was in high school we opened our home to an infant in need and have become her parents. Her arrival inspired me to go to school and get my degree. I chose WGU so that I could accelerate and will have earned my Bachelors after just 15 months of school. (I will graduate July 2022)As a youth I was a foster kid and now since we began fighting for our little one, I have seen just how broken the system is. Unfortunately, the kids don't always come first. I want to fight for them and help the adults in their lives learn how to advocate for themselves and the child. Working and volunteering in the schools I have been able to do some of this.The work is hard, there are rough days, but one smile from a child makes it worth it.
