Work directly with the Hearing Foundation of Canada to implement the Sound Sense program across ten schools in Nova Scotia. I am responsible for developing a database of the Halifax Regional Municipality elementary schools, sending out promotional emails to the schools, and booking presentations for ten schools in the HRM.

Responsible for participant recruitment across N.S; this involves contacting various individuals, organizations, groups and centers via email and phone and communicating to them the importance of the study and why they should participate. I organize a timeline to travel to the different locations across N.S and collect language samples to be used for analysis.

Basic audiometric testing (otoscopy, immittance, acoustic reflexes, OAE, pure tone audiometry, speech testing), ABR, hearing aid fittings (selection, programming, adjustments and counselling).

I was responsible for helping the students during the hands on laboratory component and marking their weekly laboratory reports.

I was responsible for complete execution of the project protocol by performing electroretinograms (ERGs) on rats and acquiring and analyzing data using LabView, MatLab, Superscope II and Excel. From this project, “Prophylactic neuroprotection by blueberry-enriched diet in a rat model of light-induced retinopathy” a manuscript has been published in the Journal of Nutritional Biochemistry and I presented the results at the 17th Annual Ophthalmology Research Day. Additionally, I worked on a clinical trail at the IWK health center in the Electrodiagnostic Lab. The study involved performing visual evoked potentials (VEPs) and pattern ERGs to determine the functional versus organic nature of visual field defects. I was responsible for participant recruitment, performing the required test and data collection.
