My marketing career began when I first recognized the impact I had as a consumer. As an avid shopper, I started questioning why products appeared on the shelf the way they did, or how commercials and billboard messages came across and how these campaigns impacted the business. I certainly tested this "consumer power"​ when I was displeased with a company and let them know about it! Upon this realization however, it led me down the path to study Marketing at the University of Cincinnati and pursue hands-on experience through the university's prestigious co-op program. I first experimented with the strategies I was learning in school through corporate co-op experience, while serving customers at Skyline. I learned the most basic strategies, such as being friendly to customers, doing whatever we had to do to make them happy, even if it meant having to sacrifice a few dollars to give them a discount when they were displeased. But then I also realized (working at the busiest Skyline Chili on record in Clifton) that if you offer customers the best experience possible, they will come back. Not only to that particular restaurant, but they will ask for me to be their server. Which means more $$ for me! As basic a strategy as "being friendly"​ is, it led my thinking to so much more. What else could I do to bring in more dollars to my company? Through my experience developing corporate marketing programs through a network of advertising campaigns, SEO/SEM, copywriting, creative, product development, category management and consumer research, I learned these and many more ways I can draw that consumer in and make them happy. Give them a reason to want to come back, and build a loyal customer.
