CAREY is a unique non-profit that includes a theological college, short term and long term accommodations, student residence and conference facility. I had the opportunity to be the welcoming face of Carey by providing exceptional customer service and administrative support at the Front Desk.One of my favourite responsibilities in this position was coordinating all of Carey's Group Bookings. These included accommodations, meeting rooms and/or in-house catering. I worked with each group from start to finish and did my best to ensure their event would run smoothly. Due to my attention to detail and positive attitude, many of our new groups quickly became returning customers. The Group Organizers I worked with were not just my clients, they were my team members - I felt a personal responsibility to make sure that our service exceeded their expectations.

This was the second semester that I have had the privilege to assist the Chair of the Geography, History, Political & International Studies and Geography professor, Dr. Maxwell Ofosushene, with his Global Environmental Issues class.

Ottawa, Canada Area

The City of Ottawa's Affordable Housing Unit works diligently to create and implement projects and policies in attempts to provide affordable housing for all.I had the privilege to participate in two RFP processes and help facilitate a National Housing Day event with local housing providers and CMHC. I conducted research on a variety of topics including home ownership programs. I was able to improve office productivity by assisting the senior staff with clerical duties. This fantastic experience solidified my interest in social and affordable housing, municipal affairs and sustainable cities.

East Vancouver

For two consecutive summers I was a member of a wonderful staff team which coordinated New Beginning's summer program for children and youth. We registered over 100 children for camps that they would have otherwise not have had the opportunity to experience. The mentor/mentee relationships I cultivated through this work was, and continues to be, very rewarding. My work included - volunteer management- community engagement - administration- clerical duties- customer service- developing camp payment plans with clients- mentorship- driving with my Class 4 license - event planning
