About Jennifer Douglas

A passionate photographer, writer, producer and filmmaker with an extensive media background. Before joining the ABC in 2012, I worked as an independent producer and advertising creative, writing, producing and directing for television, corporate productions, live event coverage and international event management.I have produced a diverse range of television stories, short films, multimedia projects and short documentaries.Volunteer roles:Director and Former Chair Food Next Door CoopSponsorship Manager raising lifesaving funds for the Angel Flight Air RaceAustralian Women’s Pilot Association - Mildura National Conference Volunteer Committee 2024Former Secretary Sunraysia Sports Aircraft Club - Wentworth Airport in NSW Fundraising:2023 & 2024 SFC Air Races for Angel Flight.Broadcast Background :Jennifer Douglas has spent over a decade travelling across regional and remote Australia capturing stories for the ABC that explore and address the unique issues impacting regional communities. As a Features Reporter, she’s covered stories ranging from the lack of cancer treatment options in the bush, the ravages of drought, fires and floods. The resilience of the Aussie spirit during the aftermath of these events has inspired our nation. She has produced hundreds of beautifully cinematically shot films and articles as her legacy from her time in the bush.Living and working on her own small Mallee farm for over 20 years, she's built a deep understanding of the broad range of issues affecting rural and regional communities and seeks to give those affected a voice and hold those with the power to address it, accountable. Philanthropy: Director and former Chair of Food Next Door, donating use of her farm for the initiative with the aim of building leadership and capacity of migrants and former refugees who lost their farms and connection to community due to war and civil conflict, who have re-established themselves in rural and regional areas without access to land to grow their traditional foods. foodnextdoor.org.auFly Wentworth RAAus satellite Flying School: During her tenure as Aero Club Secretary, Jennifer established a satellite flight training school. This strategic move became instrumental in securing the club's future, after the sudden retirement of the long time CFI due to ill health. Jen's subsequent efforts in marketing the new flight school and the aero club resulted in new memberships, by attracting student pilots to the club.

    Sfc Australia Apr 2023 - Jun 2024
    Australia
Our race teams are proudly raising funds and awareness for Angel Flight Australia a charity that coordinates non-emergency flights, to assist country people to access specialist medical treatment that would otherwise be unavailable due to distance and high travel costs. The 2024 SFC Air Race aims to raise $100,000 in life-saving donations to support Angel Flight with integral funds to continue their important work. The SFC Air Race will comprise fifteen race teams who will race around Australia’s vast outback in a variety of aircraft using their piloting and navigational skills to compete to win each race leg. What makes this air race unique? However, this is not your average air race, the fifteen teams need to use all their airmanship skills to safely tackle the diverse and challenging outback weather, terrain and remote strips. The teams are required to decipher cryptic clues to successfully navigate each leg, with the scores based on navigational precision and timing. Each team will be scored on their accuracy between the outbound and inbound track for each air race leg in some of the outback’s most iconic locations. Through sponsorship your organisation can join our teams, as they cover these vast areas of Australia’s magnificent outback, with regular sponsored multi-platform social video updates from the cockpit and iconic outback locations. https://bit.ly/3ReaGft https://www.sfcaero.com.au/airrace
