Curriculum development and management: In the 2016-17 school year, Pope John Paul II High School launched a unique program that allows the students to develop skills needed in a modern job market. While some of the courses have a STEM focus, innovation is a cross curricular endeavor. As Director of Innovation, my responsibilities include guiding the innovation team in the development of courses that integrate project based learning and technology. Career exploration is provided through internships and interaction with professionals in outreach from the Innvo8 courses. Technology coordinator: Additional responsibilities in as Director of Innovation include overseeing the implementation and management of the 1 to 1 implementation of iPads in the school including the coordination the tech team in their procurement and management of resources, providing professional development and on boarding of the students and parents to the technology. Curriculum development and professional development: My goal as Director of Innov8 to to integrate innovative learning strategies across the curriculum. Observation and consultation with teachers allows us to find the perfect strategy and resources to meet the needs of the students in the classroom.

Varied courses primarily in science including physical science, physics, biology and AP biology. Responsible collaboratively writing the curriculum used in the modeling at JPII and other schools across the state. Developed and implemented the research method used in all science classes in the department. Using this method, my students have successfully published and presented their research at the state and national level. Additional courses include and architecture class which required learning how to use SketchUp and 3D print technology. Haiti Love is a social entrepreneurship course where student design project which provide sustainable resources and education in Haiti.

Opened the department as our new school formed. Responsible for managing and maintaining a balanced budget every year. Interviewed potential candidates, guided teachers and mentor colleagues. Led the department through a significant change in sequencing of curriculum and method of instruction that led to a significant gain in ACT science reasoning scores and more importantly interest in taking additional science course work.

Volunteer position that oversees a membership of over 800 teacher and coordinates professional development conference that host almost 500 teachers each year. This position requires management and coordination of a board of directors; engagement of public sponsors of events; and interaction with the Tennessee Department of Education to stay aware of initiative that could impact the members. The largest role is supporting Tennessee teachers in providing the best educational opportunities for their students.

Consult with universities, state agencies, schools systems and businesses to develop curriculum and professional development in areas of identified need. Areas include biotechnology, curriculum content needs, methods of instruction, technology and guiding students in research. While the areas of consultation are varied the overall grow is to provide a personalized and engaging professional learning experience where participants leave confidant in their skills of implementation.
