About Jennifer Getchell

Currently I am working as a Title Insurance Underwriter with Investor’s Title and every day I apply myself to continue to learn and grow within the company. I love learning new things and enjoy diving head first and learning all that I can. Due to this, my resume is varied I am able to apply a strong work ethic to each and every role. My goals in life are to keep an open mind and to always look for ways to improve my skills whether it's a career or a hobby. While I'm not working I love to knit, weave and even know how to spin my own yarn. Currently, I am in the first of three courses towards a certification in Master of Hand Knitting. Each course usually takes about a year to complete and explores various techniques and skills in knitting by hand. Currently I enjoy volunteering with several museums including High Point Museum, Halifax State Historic Site, and President K. Polk State Historic Site as a living historian. This includes cooking over an open fire, mending/sewing, knitting and weaving and educating visitors on what life was like in 18th century colonies. I research and prepare demonstrations and displays prior to an event and I have also hand-sewn my outfits using 18th century techniques.
