So often in life, we run from challenges, worry over trials, and take the sweet things of life for granted. More often than not, people with ID/DD find joy in the small things of life, and they know everything there is to know about overcoming limitations, breaking down barriers, and living a life of success...according to THEIR definition of success instead of everyone else telling them what they "should" be. I admire people of differing abilities and I strive to live my life more like them.I have spent all of my almost 15 years of my post academic career doing what I love to do: helping others. While the first 11 years of my career were in the field of intellectual and developmental disabilities, I have been working in a community services organization for the past four years that works with people who are homeless, people with substance use disorders, and people with mental health diagnosis. Each position has presented me with opportunities to face and overcome challenges, develop leadership skills, and touch the lives of countless people in both direct and indirect ways. I look forward to continuing to find fulfillment in these areas of work throughout my career.I have experience in Medicaid compliance, incident investigations, quality assurance and improvement, conducting audits, committee leadership, treatment and habilitation plan writing, supervision, and management.I am a proud 2018 graduate of Leadership Mohawk Valley.
