My positions as Siena during the last 14 year have included: Department Chair of Math & Science, Middle School Science Teacher (teaching Earth, Life and Physical Sciences), Environmental & Outdoor Education Coordinator and Cross Country and Tennis Coach. For many of these positions, I did them simultaneously.I missed the classroom after being away for 10 years, in particular the relationships I developed with students to experience their growth. I returned to the classroom to teach my childhood passion, Science. While at Siena, I have always sought growth and opportunity to bring my passions and interests to the community: coaching my childhood sports of cross country and tennis, my passion for the outdoors and experience in environmental education and a desire to grow my leadership skills. The most rewarding parts of my positions at Siena has been to create and engage my students in student-centered lessons and projects, develop opportunities to differentiate and individualize student's educational needs, mentor new teachers and lead Siena's comprehensive growth and evaluation system.

Hiking Along was born from my love of the outdoors. Hiking Along engaged children in exploration of the natural world to encourage them to appreciate and learn about the environment and how humans impact it while hiking on scenic trails around the DC region. While hiking, groups of children, preschool to high school, participate in hands-on science activities to learn about their natural surroundings. Eleven different, two mile hikes were offered to engage and teach children about hiking safety, Leave No Trace, nature photography, trees, rocks, deciduous and wetland ecosystems, and animal adaptations.
