I am a motivated and enthusiastic special educator with a passion for inclusion and education. I have been teaching 11 years and have a wide range of experience from teaching an autism preschool class to a mild moderate special day elementary and middle school setting to a high school moderate severe classroom. I have created several innovative programs at all the schools I have worked at from a reading enrichment partnership with a local elementary school to creating community outreach opportunities for my students. I also have created a lunch inclusion program, a garden and a recycling program at my school site. I currently am teaching a mild moderate program for students with high functioning Autism at the middle school level that I created at my school site. I am constantly incorporating multi-modality methods to my practice so that I can reach all learners. I write and create my own songs and jingles to teach different subjects so that students can experience learning in a fun and exciting way. I also have a passion for teaching about disability awareness and training others (both students and adults) so that they are successful with working with students with disabilities. It is my professional goal and objective to partner with schools to speak about Ability Awareness and Empathy Training as well as educate fellow teachers. I have been on a teacher's panel at USD on restorative practices and self care. I also have contributed to the book Real Talk published by Corwin that is used as a textbook for teacher candidates.
