Through mobile response, a network of sub offices and staff based within UNMISS Protection of Civilian sites (PoC), IOM teams provide efficient multi-sector humanitarian intervention to displaced persons and conflict affected host communities (southsudan.iom.int). The 2014-2015 crisis response in South Sudan is IOM’s largest humanitarian response with over 400 team members, 35 emergency projects and a budget exceeding USD 100 million. The Program Support Unit (PSU) Coordinator works directly with program managers, the Chief of Mission, donors, humanitarian partners and IOM headquarters’ technical, legal, financial and liaison offices to support the development and implementation of IOM’s humanitarian programming in South Sudan. Recruited and trained new staff and management, introduced and maintained project accountability systems and relocated the program to an appropriate facility in line with donor requirements. -Conducted regional assessment missions to Burundi, Tanzania (Kigoma, Kasulu, Nyaragusu), Chad (Gore, Farchana, Goz Beida), Sudan and extensive travel to Kakuma and Dadaab refugee camps.-Coordinated closely with program partners UNHCR, RSC Africa and BPRM to increase communication and streamline efficiency of the United States Refugee Admissions Program (USRAP). Assisting in the coordinating IOM’s Emergency response activities in North Eastern Kenya; partnering with UNHCR to safely move newly arriving Somali refugees from the SO/KE border to the Dadaab Refugee Camps, identifying new projects and drafting proposals to BPRM, ECHO and the Government of France.
