As an accomplished scientist, I hold a Master of Science degree in Aquatic Toxicology (Purdue University), with a focus on understanding the impact of multiple environmental stressors on oil spill toxicity in Gulf Killifish. My research findings have been published in multiple scientific journals.Furthermore, I have made significant contributions to the field of molecular biology during my time at the University of Oregon. I conducted research utilizing Fluorescent Activated Cell Sorting (FACS) to isolate specific cell populations of neuronal cells and performed RNA-seq analysis on those cells. This work has been recognized and published (BMC Genomics, 2022), highlighting my proficiency in employing advanced molecular biology techniques. Additionally, I have explored the effects of the microbiome on Zebrafish social behavior and brain development, further expanding my understanding of the intricate relationship between the microbiome and complex behaviors in model organisms. In my previous role at EnviralTech, I played a pivotal part in designing multi-plex qPCR assays for the detection of COVID-19, Influenza A/B, and Norovirus on various surfaces. This experience allowed me to contribute to public health initiatives and demonstrate my proficiency in molecular methodolgies.Currently, at Thermo Fisher Scientific, I have been contributing to enhancing and expanding our IHC slide staining capabilities for spatial biology studies in human tissues, enabling breakthroughs in understanding complex biological processes. Previously, I was actively involved in the development of cutting-edge NovaFluor dyes for immunophenotyping applications. Leveraging my expertise in flow cytometry, I have successfully applied spectral and traditional flow cytometry techniques to a diverse range of research projects. Additionally, I have played a vital role in enhancing the capabilities of the Qubit platform by creating application notes specifically for the new Endotoxin assay. Driven by my passion for aquatic toxicology, molecular biology, and immunophenotyping, I am committed to advancing scientific knowledge and making a positive impact in the field. With a strong foundation in research and a deep understanding of cellular analysis techniques, I am dedicated to driving innovation and contributing to scientific breakthroughs.Let's connect and explore opportunities to collaborate on cutting-edge research projects and drive scientific progress.

Scientist IiThermo Fisher Scientific Oct 2021 - PresentEugene, Oregon, United StatesI am a Scientist II in Cell Biology R&D. I work as a research and development scientist on a number of different projects. Currently, I am helping to expand our IHC slide staining capabilities and creating application notes for our Qubit platform. Previously, I was using spectral flow cytometry to perform verification and validation of our new NovaFluor dyes, which are useful for immunophenotyping (particularly for spectral flow cytometry). -
Research And Development ScientistInvivo Biosystems Jun 2021 - Sep 2021I was a R&D scientist who supported multiple research teams with client-based and internal projects. I used fluorescent activated cell sorting (FACS) to sort GFP-labeled transgenic C. elegans neuronal cells for downstream RNAseq. I also developed qPCR multiplex assays to screen for epileptic markers in transgenic Zebrafish. -
Research And Development ScientistEnviral Tech Mar 2020 - Jun 2021Eugene, Oregon, United StatesAfter the COVID pandemic, I transitioned over to Enviral Tech (branch off from InVivo Biosystems) to use my molecular biology and research skills to get the company up and running. I was a lead R&D scientist on the team. In the initial stages, I focused on the product development for the kits that we sent customers and how to process the samples in our BSL2 lab. I designed and developed novel qPCR assays for COVID surface testing. I developed multiplex assays testing for COVID, influenza, and Norovirus. I managed multiple research projects at a time efficiently to deliver a product and/or process by the project deadline. -
Scientist IInvivo Biosystems Feb 2020 - Mar 2020Eugene, Oregon, United StatesI was a scientist aiding in design and development of CRISPR technology in Zebrafish. I designed primers for PCR assays, performed embryo injections, screened embryos via PCR and fluorescent microscopy, and fish husbandry. -
Research AssistantUniversity Of Oregon Jan 2018 - Feb 2020Eugene, Oregon, United StatesI worked in the Institute of Neuroscience researching the affects of the gut microbiome on brain development in Zebrafish. I designed novel protocols to use FACS to sort GFP labeled ZF neuronal cells, do the downstream RNA extraction on sorted cells, library prep, and RNAseq data analysis. I analyzed all of the RNAseq data in R and it was published in BMC Genomics in 2022 (https://bmcgenomics.biomedcentral.com/articles/10.1186/s12864-022-08879-w). I was also responsible for rearing ZF larvae in sterile conditions for germ-free experiments and general ZF husbandry. I genotyped ZF via fin clips. I designed qPCR assays for testing expression of various neuronal markers. -
Account ManagerMedical Diagnostic Laboratories, L.L.C. (Mdl) Jul 2017 - Jan 2018Chicago, Illinois, United StatesI was an account manager for the greater Chicagoland area. I was in charge of taking care of all current client accounts by scheduling pickups, providing supplies, taking orders, solving any and all issues, and providing overall excellent customer service. -
Graduate Research AssistantPurdue University Jan 2015 - May 2017West Lafayette, InI received my M.S. degree at Purdue University in aquatic toxicology. I conducted research that examined the combined effects of crude oil and environmental stressors (temperature, oxygen, and salinity shifts) on the estuarine environment on Fundulus grandis larvae. This was accomplished by using a variety of different endpoints, such as survival, morphology, and expression of genes responsive to hypoxia and oil exposure. RNA-Seq was also an important tool used in my research to compare genetic differences. I graduated in May 2017. -
Laboratory TechnicianPurdue University Apr 2013 - Dec 2014West Lafayette, InAs a laboratory technician here, I was trained in many molecular biology techniques such as RNA extraction, DNA extraction, PCR, qPCR, and Western blot. I worked on a variety of projects during this time. I aided in development, organization, and implementation of the following research projects: o In vitro toxicity of perfluorinated carboxylic acids on Danio rerio liver cellso Sublethal toxicity of tricholorethylene on Danio rerio larvaeo Identified sex-specific proteins in Scaphirhynchus platorynchus (shovelnose sturgeon) blood plasma. After working for this lab for over a year, they offered me a position as a graduate research assistant to pursue my M.S. in aquatic toxicology.
