After my first year of college I found myself in the position of being a relatively young Mom, so most of my career has been on the job training. With over 20 years of experience in the computer space, my workload increased as security increased so we could prove honest intentions of honest workers. It has been an exciting journey being with a small software company who could network communications before there was such a thing as IIS, and who was among the first to provide laser printed documents to the mortgage lending industry. My primary role consisted of database management and constant communication between IT, programming and end users. Before college, and before the internet, I sent updates on disk and later configured automated services within best security practices. Having experience in web administration as well, I was among one of the community contributors who provided a work around to an issue updating pages on Sharpoint, before a solution was provided.I have also facilitated support and emotional healing for women. Sounds easy, but quite challenging. 15-minute check-in’s, deciphering goals, and implementing accountability for staying on task. How wonderful would that be to incorporate this healthy yet challenging growth mindset in the world of software development? It turns out there is such a thing, AKA, a daily SCRUM. My work experience included open feedback and quick release cycles, but I can see how applying SCRUM principals could add more traction.I have since gone back to accomplish my Associates in Computer Science and it was great self-care to believe in myself and achieve Dean's List standing. Because there are many realm's in the computer world, I would like to find a company where my experiences are a fit and I can narrow my focus of learning along with a new company.
