Jennifer Watson, Ph.D., is the CEO and Chief Scientist of Limuless, LLC. Limuless is a research-based biotechnology company that focuses on recombinant protein production using a unique recombineering platform. Our goal is to produce and supply a Limulus-free recombinant LAL assay to the pharmaceutical industry to safeguard humanity’s supply of vaccines, medicines, and medical devices.Jennifer is an expert molecular biologist, trained under the tutelage of Scott Wilson, Ph.D., at the University of Alabama at Birmingham. Her thesis work, published in PLoS Genetics, identified the causative mutation of the ataxic mouse mutant teetering (tn) and characterized the downstream effects of the mutation on mRNA and protein expression, and further identified the responsible gene as a candidate for genetic peripheral neuropathies in humans (PMID: 26115514). Through her graduate studies, Jennifer earned a rigorous and practical knowledge of genetics and protein biology.After graduation, Jennifer worked as a Startup Engineer and breaker specialist with Engineered Solutions to assist with the first new nuclear power reactor startup in over twenty years at Watts Bar Nuclear Plant in Spring City, TN. Along with engineering experience, she earned strong analytical and technical skills. This work allowed her and her husband, Richard Hatcher (CTO), to raise startup funds for Limuless, an idea borne during over the dinner table during graduate school.Jennifer holds a B.S. in Biomedical Engineering from the University of Tennessee at Knoxville, and a Ph.D. from the University of Alabama at Birmingham in Neuroscience.
