I trained at Wragge & Co (now Gowling WLG) and qualified into the employment team in September 2010. I worked as a Senior Associate until January 2018 before joining the University of Law in Birmingham as their Pro Bono Coordinator. As an employment practitioner, I worked on contentious and non contentious matters for private and public sector clients covering areas such as equal pay, unfair dismissal and discrimination, TUPE, redundancy procedures, compromise agreements and employment contracts and handbooks.I then joined the University of Law where I was responsible for coordinating, reviewing and reporting on the clinical legal education (pro bono) activities at the Birmingham Centre and promoting pro bono activity amongst the public, the profession and staff and students. Pro bono programmes included the Legal Advice Centre (LAC) and the Birmingham Employment Rights Advice Line (BERAL). I also taught on the LPC and LLB programmes and was involved in marking and educational design work (employment law and data protection).In 2021, I was seconded to the role of Academic Practice Developer (Research) where I have focused on developing the research environment and output at the the University. This has included: establishing a research repository, creating and external website and intranet page, training and developing colleagues on research and scholarship, updating the Research Strategy and related policies, sitting on the Research Committee and Chairing the Research training and development committee.I am currently involved in the coaching and development of apprentices who are training to qualify as solicitors through the Graduate or Solicitor apprentices.I am a Fellow of Advance HE and a member of the Birmingham Law Society Employment Committee.In 2023 I completed an LLM by research at the University of Warwick considering the development of sexual harassment laws.
