Recruited to lead oncology practices and health care professionals to improve clinical and operational performance to provide better care to cancer patients and survivors.-Established and directed the quality improvement program development, delivery, and evaluation framework using the Kirkpatrick Model.-Developed successful ongoing 6-month longitudinal Quality Training Program (QTP) designed to educate and train physician-led oncology teams. Inaugural class of 45 participants resulted in 97% learning and 95% applying new concepts; 100% completed QI projects and measurable gains in clinical and operational workflow, EMR systems, HIT structure. -QTP is a successful revenue generating program with international reach. More than 40 projects have been completed. -Co-developed successful extramural funding proposal for Stavros Niarchos Foundation to receive support for the improvement of cancer care in medically underserved communities. -Provided QI expertise in the development of tools, resources, and educational materials for major projects considered strategic to ASCO’s success. Co-led longitudinal program evaluations with surveys, focus groups, and data analysis to demonstrate measurable improvements. -Administrative management duties included program budgeting, staff hiring, coaching, and ongoing performance feedback.

Hired to implement a national cancer health services program to improve patients’ quality of life and health outcomes. -Led development of Cancer Survivorship E-Learning Series for Primary Care Providers, an innovative, interactive custom web-based platform to learn about caring for cancer survivors’ health needs in the primary care setting. More than 1,000 modules completed by target audience. -Lead educator and trainer of physician and nurse leaders, and patient navigators. Developed “Executive Training on Survivorship and Navigation: Finding Your Patient Focus,” a two-day national program that equipped 90 hospital leaders with tools and resources to launch and sustain patient navigation and survivorship programs. Converted to online academy. Developed and taught, “Evaluation Methods and Measures” workshop. -Contributed to the research plan, data collection, and evaluation design of a breast cancer survivors’ self-management program; awarded a $400,000 Susan G. Komen for the Cure grant.-Collaborated with clinical staff to develop comprehensive, clinical care guidance.-QI/PI Consultant to Cancer Committee for new survivorship care planning process.-Developed collaborations with national, state and community-based organizations to research, develop, and disseminate evidence-based information and resources on cancer survivorship.-Supported cancer survivor behavior change to improve nutrition and physical activity, overcome fear of recurrence, cope with late and long-term effects from cancer and treatments, and use of follow-up care plans through creation of educational programs.

Recruited to provide quality performance improvement consulting and training services to medical staff, nursing, and ancillary staff of 126 U.S. hospitals to improve the quality of heart attack and heart failure care, language services, patient flow, and to reduce readmissions rates. -Led in-person and web-based training of 250 hospital personnel on use of QI tools and methods and new Joint Commission regulatory standards. Developed training material/ presentations.-Led development and vendor management for custom web-based learning platform that supported data entry and management of clinical data. -Provided on-going consultations to 100+ trainees and web-based platform customers.-Employed and advised on QI methodology based on well-defined PDSA Cycles.-Created new QI performance metrics, data dictionaries, and data collection tools for hospital project teams to address complex care issues such as patients with chronic illness, health care disparities, evidence-based medicine, and care coordination/transitions. -Facilitated positive discussions with hospital C-suite leaders, physicians, and nurses regarding process and outcomes measures and peer review activities. -Reviewed hospital performance data for QI trends, and organized and presented reports to hospital personnel monthly to facilitate improvements. -Developed subject matter expertise on caring for patients with chronic illness, health care disparities, evidence-based medicine, care coordination/transitions, and performance improvement. -Collaborated with health services researchers, health care policy experts, and communications professionals.-Managed contractual relationships with technical assistance vendors with $75,000 budgets.
