I answer at least one forum post per week on the Joomla Community Forums to help answer people’s questions about problems they may be having with Joomla. Often one post becomes several and it’s addictive to help people in the forums! Especially when their problem is solved and they are so happy to move on from their problem that stopped them up. That is the part I love. When people “get it” and they learned from some small (or large) thing that helped them.

I semi-regularly write for the Joomla Community Magazine. Great team of people. I’ve also co-authored an article with Duke Speer under his name about the life cycles of Joomla. Writing for the magazine is a great way to share with the Joomla Community.

San Francisco Bay Area

As co-organizer of the Joomla User Group in the San Francisco Bay Area, I along with one other help plan 11 meetups and/or workshops per year. Typically we present most meetups ourselves and split the presentation to keep things interesting. Who wants to listen to us talk all the time, right?! For those meetups that we have guest speakers, I coordinate that with the other organizer as well. This includes finding and securing a venue along with the technical needs like wi-fi and parking. For larger events, there are just more logistics; event space, catering, transportation, technology, and the always large problem of parking in the Bay Area.We are regularly contacted by members wanting advice or people looking for developers. Berkeley

Primary role for JoomlaDay was securing sponsorship for the event. Additionally, I was involved in the following decisions and coordination: event space/venue, lodging, food, goodie bags, banners, program, and emotional support. (It’s hard work.) During the event, I did anything and everything from checking toilet paper stock, to coffee, to dishes, to presenting sessions and announcements. Organizing a JoomlaDay is hard but rewarding work. Working with the sponsors helped me get to know many Joomla developers and hosting companies I am happy to have a relationship with.

Worked with Zyzyrgy on a series of Joomla websites. Assisted the Zyzyrgy team to prioritize projects & kept them focused on accomplishing the tasks they needed to get done to achieve the desired results. This was done through online task software & daily reminders via phone, text, email - whatever communication medium works best for each member of the team. Working with Zyzyrgy helped me to become a better developer and a better project manager.

Analyzed existing systems and processes and implementing improvements that streamline productivity and improve customer service. Collaborated with customers to ensure all needs are met. Managed Accounts Receivable, Sales, and Marketing for the organization. Revamped company website and made changes as necessary. Analyzed customer licensing status and ensured compliance. Purchasing, shipping & receiving.

Directed staff members . Created company newsletters and organized seminars to provide customer training and product education. Managed all customer relationships and performed inside sales. Assisted in the development and maintenance of the company website. Provided training to Accounts Receivable staff members. Exploded support contract sales. Created training documentation on maintenance programs. Assisted the sales team in configuring systems and setting end-user expectations.

Business office for El Palomar & Cilantro's Restaurants. Assisted in cash handling, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, inventory. Developed system for barter/trade tracking and statement production.
