Hired as the Managing Editor for Broward Family Life and Miami-Dade Family Life Magazines, but shifted to online duties when we moved from print to digital (April 2020) because of the COVID-19 shutdown. Duties include writing/editing all online content, proofing the monthly magazine, managing our social media feeds, filming our Facebook Live series (#fieldtripfridays), rebranding the magazines as South Florida Family Life, developing our audience, and optimizing SEO on our website.

Miami/Fort Lauderdale Area

Joined a team to proofread all magazines, catalogs, emails, web pages, social media posts, scripts, display advertising and office communication for Life Extension, a health supplement company in Fort Lauderdale. Switch mid-year to copywriter to write copy for emails, ads, catalogs and the company’s rebranded website, which launched in October 2019. Worked in Adobe Acrobat, Adobe InDesign and InCopy, Microsoft Office Suite and Workfront project management platform.

Placed on the features team of the South Florida Sun Sentinel, where I contribute event roundups, features, photos and videos through my position of South Florida Parenting editor and continue to produce the annual High School Journalism Awards.

South Florida Parenting: I assign and edit all editorial content in the monthly tri-county magazine; manage the website, social media presence and freelance staff; write stories; and handle administrative duties as needed. I also work with NBC6 in Miami on the Parent to Parent segment on Six in the Mix, appearing on the show monthly and scheduling guests to talk about issues of interests to South Florida parents. We also broadcast a monthly Facebook Live show for South Florida Parenting, filmed in the Sun Sentinel studio.

Contributing writer for South Florida Parenting and contributing editor as needed on special issues. Duties include blogging, product reviews, travel and feature writing, page proofing, etc.

Editor focused on creating and editing content of Teenlink and on the recruitment, training and management of the teens within the Sun-Sentinel's youth program. Assign and edit all student work from our 60-student staff and assist in the design and production of an online and quarterly newspaper distributed straight to Broward, Palm Beach and Miami-Dade County high schools. I also coordinate and stage the High School Journalism Awards each year, a job that includes marketing the contest to schools; recruiting judges; coordinating the awards; planning, publicizing and executing the ceremony; and speaking at the event.

As a senior editor at Forum Publishing Group, I manage the sports editor and calendar editors, edit FPG reporters, write editorials for the editorial board, proof and typeset weekly Forum papers, edit weekly community sports content, and edit special sections within FPG. I often fill in for vacationing section editors, taking over budgets, line editing and photo assignments as needed.

Managed teen journalism programs in Broward and Palm Beach counties with more than 100 teens, and ran the Sun-Sentinel's Summer Minority Intern Program for high school students. Responsible for recruiting, training, editing and paying staff of Next Generation during school year. Assigned, edited and designed content for 2 broadsheet pages per week that published NextGen content within the Sun-Sentinel during the school year. Also assisted with then took over the Sun Sentinel High School Journalism Awards, a yearly award program that recognized the best in high school journalism in Broward and Palm Beach counties. In the summer, recruited interns, planned and executed 2-week training program and 4-week newsroom internships, and staged end-of-summer banquet.
