I joined 105 other aspiring publishing students and professionals to gain experience and knowledge during the intensive six-week program focusing on magazine, book and digital publishing in Manhattan.I held the Web Art Director position for the magazine section, designing a website using Adobe InDesign. I held the Sales Director position for the book.

I entered a creative nonfiction memoir and was chosen to be published in Iowa State University's literary journal spring 2010.

I worked for Dr. David Bulla, assistant professor in journalism and mass communication, grading quizzes, assisting with First Amendment Day and being available for student questions.

I worked for the Ames, Iowa, Main Street district helping plan multiple city events, including the Fourth of July parade and festivities, Tune into Main Street, a weekly music concerts in the park, Art Walks, and Main Street Iowa membership tours. I also wrote press releases and a monthly article for its online newsletter.

I started out as the VEISHEA, ISU weeklong event, beat reporter spring 2008 and quickly moved to managing news editor summer 2008 where I managed eight plus reporters, edited news content and gained leadership experience. I was assistant news editor fall 2008 carrying over all responsibilities from previous positions. Here I gained multitasking and time.
