As a researcher in the Urban Institute’s Health Policy Center for over 20 years, I study maternal, child, and parental health and health care; Medicaid and the Children’s Health Insurance Program; and health equity. My current research assesses challenges immigrant families face accessing public programs; coverage, access, and health care utilization during the postpartum period; barriers to enrollment in publicly subsidized health insurance coverage; opportunities for improved collection and use of data on race and ethnicity; implications of the unwinding of pandemic-related coverage policies; and other issues related to coverage and care for children and families. I have authored over 100 reports, policy briefs, blogs, and other publications, including refereed papers in Academic Pediatrics, the American Journal of Public Health, Health Affairs, Health Care Financing Review, Inquiry, and Pediatrics. I also regularly present at speaking engagements and have been cited in media outlets such as the Washington Post, Forbes, Marketplace, and NPR.
