I am a marine conservation scientist interdisciplinarily trained in ecological and social science theories and methods to conduct actionable and applied marine and coastal research and management. I collaborate directly with community partners and key players to develop innovative approaches for marine resource management and to sustain a healthy ocean for all. I’m currently located in the Florida Keys as a Regional Fisheries Biologist (Biological Scientist IV) for the Florida Fish & Wildlife Conservation Commission. I am also contracted as a Faculty Research Assistant with Oregon State University and the ODFW Marine Reserves. I completed an M.S. in Fisheries Science in June 2024 from Oregon State University, where I was a Science to Action Fellow with the Northwest Climate Adaptation Science Center and a Malouf Marine Studies Scholar with Oregon SeaGrant. I received a B.S. in Marine Biology from the University of California, Santa Cruz in June 2022. My various projects are all tied by their shared idea of bridging our understanding of human behavior with our understanding of marine ecology to support the sustainable use of marine resources. I am passionate about finding ways to mitigate and adapt to a changing ocean and plan to positively impact the marine conservation issues our communities face.

Faculty Research AssistantOregon State University Sep 2024 - PresentAnalyzing data from two surveys of Oregon residents and visitors on climate and ocean change and collating results into a peer-reviewed publication and accompanying technical report and outreach presentations. -
Regional Fisheries BiologistFlorida Fish & Wildlife Conservation Commission May 2024 - PresentMarathon, Florida, United States• Serving as a subject matter expert about federal fishery management actions, state management of marine fisheries, and Endangered Species listing proposals affecting fisheries in the Florida Keys.• Fostering productive working relationships with local fisheries management stakeholders to identify and characterize local marine fisheries management issues. -
Science To Action FellowU.S. Geological Survey (Usgs) May 2023 - Oct 2024I was selected by the USGS Climate Adaptation Science Center as a Science to Action Fellow for my project entitled "Mapping Public Perceptions of Marine Climate Change to Inform Natural Resource Management Decisions." Over this year-long fellowship, I will work with local stakeholders to create an online interactive map of local, county-level, and regional perceptions of marine climate change for managers to refer to in their management decisions. This map will allow managers to examine public perceptions to the same geographic scale as their management strategies, supporting the development of appropriate natural resource management decisions. -
Instructor Of RecordOregon State University Mar 2024 - Jun 2024Corvallis, Oregon, United StatesInstructor for an asynchronous undergraduate course of 35 students, "FW 340: Multicultural Perspectives in Natural Resource Management," in the Department of Fisheries, Wildlife, and Conservation Sciences. -
Graduate Research AssistantOregon State University Aug 2022 - Jun 2024Human Dimensions Lab- Co-developed a multi-wave survey approach with the Oregon Marine Reserves to explore psychologically wise communication strategies around ocean change. - Collected 1,414 responses through an online representative survey and 2,451 responses through an experimental intercept survey.- Acted as the field crew leader overseeing a team of 4 researchers over a 10-week field season. -
Instructor Of RecordOregon State University Jun 2023 - Sep 2023Corvallis, Oregon, United StatesInstructor for an asynchronous undergraduate course, "FW 340: Multicultural Perspectives in Natural Resource Management," in the Department of Fisheries, Wildlife, and Conservation Sciences. Instructing a class of 20 students while concurrently conducting a research field season and overseeing a team of three research assistants. -
ResearcherUniversity Of California, Santa Cruz Sep 2021 - Jun 2022Conservation Action LabI investigated the potential of a strategy to avoid the unintentional capture of non-target species in tuna purse seine fisheries. I surveyed helicopter pilots and other fishermen working on tuna purse seiners in the Eastern Pacific Ocean to assess their ability to identify non-target species and communicate with fishery vessels during flights to avoid these species. The results were presented to tuna fishery organizations and used to create a guide for fishery helicopter pilots to use when searching for and communicating about non-target species. This research was awarded Dean's Honors by the College of Physical Sciences and received funding from five research awards. -
Undergraduate Research AssistantUniversity Of California, Santa Cruz Apr 2021 - Jun 2022Conservation Action LabI analyzed the survey responses of fishers and stakeholders in the tropical tuna purse seine fishery in the Eastern Pacific Ocean to identify the most effective and feasible mitigation methods for the release of manta and devil rays. This research is funded by two grants from the university and is advised by Dr. Melissa Cronin. The results of this research contribute to a publication on collaborative research for bycatch mitigation in large-scale fisheries in the ICES Journal of Marine Science. -
Volunteer Field ResearcherUniversity Of California, Santa Cruz Apr 2021 - Jun 2021Año Nuevo Reserve- Conducted tag resight data collection of the Año Nuevo population of Northern Elephant Seals to assist with a demographic project- Observed tag deployment and recovery procedures- Observed and assisted in projects of various UCSC graduate students, including drone surveys, tracking energetics, foraging behavior, and mating systems.- Gained an understanding of fieldwork best practices, fieldwork logistics, and field data collection and analysis, particularly around large animals -
Research InternOikonos - Ecosystem Knowledge Sep 2019 - Dec 2019Santa Cruz, California, United StatesInternship in which I necropsied seabird stomachs in order to determine the amount of plastic pollution ingested for research and policymaking. Worked individually and under the mentor ship of a lead researcher.
