In college, I spent my freshman and sophomore years as a Pre-Major. Never heard of it . . . well that is because it is a fancy name for Undeclared.It was not until an assignment to write a paper on my major, that I discovered Fashion Merchandising and my passion for retail. What I discovered ultimately led to a career where I could be both analytical and creative. I have a love for critical thinking and problem solving, however, I knew I did not want to pursue a career solely focused on “crunching numbers”, but one that allowed me to blend art and science. Throughout my career, I have been incredibly blessed to serve in roles that far surpassed my original goals. Each of these roles has developed unique skills and grown me in ways I never thought possible. My role as a Buyer taught me: the art of negotiation, building an assortment, and a true sense of entrepreneurship as I developed strategy to drive the businessWhile Merchandise Planner gave me: the joy of creating sales and gross profit targets, building plans by category and collaborating with my buyer to achieve and exceed our targetsAs Senior Manager of Allocation: I learned to develop the talent of my team, while coaching them to identify opportunities to improve inventory productivity by store through localization and size optimization initiatives. During my time as the Senior Manager of Oracle Implementation: I represented and fought for the needs of the users to get the best performance and experience possible, then formally trained best practices and system proficiencyCurrently, as the Senior Manager of Corporate Testing & Analytics: I share impartial test results with actionable recommendations to leadership, driving improved decisions, additionally, I provide basket and customer insights to inform future strategiesAs you can probably tell, I am thankful for and passionate about my experiences, as they helped shape me into who I am today.
