As a high school counselor, I execute and oversee the school counseling program in accordance with Maryland State Department of Education and American School Counseling Association guidelines at Colonel Richardson High School.I engage students in academic, emotional, and social counseling and collaborate with teachers, administrators, outside agencies, and parents/guardians to create positive learning experiences for students. I actively participate on the BEST and Student Support Team (SST) to problem solve and create plans designed to boost student achievement. I am also a member of the CRHS Equity Committee.Academically, I utilize the Naviance program to help students with academics and preparing for college and careers, as well as engaging in academic and college planning with students. This includes building six year academic plans, attending college visits, and applying to post-secondary institutions and financial aid. I use the PowerSchool program to create student schedules to meet MSDE graduation requirements.To influence student programming, I participate in the Social-Emotional Well-Being Program for CCPS to ensure students' social-emotional needs are being met. I am also a member of the College & Career Ready and Safety & Behavior committees as part of the School Improvement Plan.As an additional support to the school, I update and maintain an accurate and professional website for the school using the Thrillshare program and utilize social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter) to promote school events and news.
